Alysha Kopala

Hey everyone, my name is Alysha! I’m a passionate dancer, traveler, and community builder who co-runs Bachata Victoria—a biweekly social event and initiative designed to deepen the love and knowledge of Bachata in Victoria.

My dance journey began in the underground Latin dance clubs of Toronto, where I fell in love with the music, movement, and the deep sense of connection that dance brings. At the time, there were no Latin dance classes or communities in London, Ontario, so I dove into ballroom instead—training in Rumba, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Foxtrot, Tango, and West Coast Swing with Fred Astaire.

After the pandemic, a car accident, and a cross-country move, I took a few years off. Luckily, dance found me again here in beautiful Victoria, BC, where I’ve been happily reconnecting and dancing with my incredible dance family.

With a genuine devotion to Latin dance, movement, and cultural connection, I’m dedicated to creating inclusive, empowering spaces where people can experience the joy of dance. My background in fitness, administration, and a lifelong love of travel fuels my appreciation for how dance brings people together across cultures and continents. My goal is to make Victoria the go to dance spot in Canada! Follow Bachata Victoria to see what events, socials and International Artists we can connect you with.

Being part of the VLDA community has been a rewarding way to share that passion locally—through teaching, connecting, and helping grow the vibrant Latin dance scene in Victoria. Dance is an activity that has completely changed my life in the best ways possible, I hope you can experience that too.

Don’t be shy—say hi!

With love and style,
Alysha
