Administrative Assistant

Jennifer Kim

Hello, my name is Ahjeong, pronounced Ah-jung. Or you can call me Jennifer. I’ve loved dancing since elementary school, trying different styles especially in middle school. I spent a lot of time dancing K-pop choreography and hip-hop. And then I had a whole year taking basic traditional Korean dance, cha-cha-cha and jive. Latin music and dance always bring me energy and joy. No matter where I am, Latin music instantly lifts my mood and makes me want to move.

Before moving to Canada, I spent 8 years working as an English instructor for children and youth while managing teachers and programs in South Korea. It was rewarding to see the little ones on stages standing on tiptoes to reach the podium for debate competitions, speech contests and spelling bee competitions. One of my roles was to coordinate those events by posting announcements, setting up stages and communicating with parents and staff (also cheering the kids up!) Through this work, I developed strong organization and communication skills with a deep appreciation for supporting diverse communities.

I’m excited to volunteer as an administrative assistant for the VLDA, combining my professional background with my passion for dance to help strengthen and celebrate our vibrant community!
