Marcel Ramírez

Hi, I’m Marcel and currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration at UVic. I moved to Victoria from Peru with my family about two years ago, and this city, with its amazing nature and welcoming spirit, quickly captured our hearts. I’m passionate about music and films, especially those that celebrate Latino culture.

Joining VLDA felt like the perfect way to give back and build connections. As a grant writer volunteer, I’m hoping to help find additional support for VLDA’s projects and initiatives where everyone can experience the rhythm, stories, and warmth of our heritage.

I am convinced that every opportunity to share our stories through music and dances helps build stronger connections and a deeper understanding of our roots.

By the way, I’m also passionate about Peruvian cuisine, which I truly believe is the best in the world, and I’d love to share its flavours and stories with all the hungry and adventurous food lovers in our community.
